Indian chess set of bone, previously owned by a Rajput family from Khotariya, near Jojawar, dated SV 1938 = 1882 AD (information from family). King and Vizier: Islamic type with silver applications, King size 8.6 cm; Pawns: Islamic type with silver applications and caps; Bishops, Knights and Rooks: camel, horse, and elephant respectively, with no silver work. Board: cotton textile embroidered with silver wire and border trim, pink and red squares, ca. 50.0 x 54.0 cm. |
