Jaques Staunton Set from 1849 with "Leuchars" Knights

The knights in Jaques chess sets evolved over the years, and the different knight styles are named according to a codex established by Frank Camaratta. The earliest and rarest style of knight is referred to as the "Leuchars" knight, as seen in this set. Very few of these "Leuchars" sets still exist. A further attraction of this set is that the Carton Pierre casket, with a hand-signed Howard Staunton label, also has a Leuchars retailers label on it.
